About this site

Who we are, how we research, and how we make money.

Why this site exists

Search for almost any credit question and you land on one of two things: a page published by the credit bureaus themselves, or a page written to sell you a $47 letter template. The first is accurate but carefully incomplete. The second is often flatly wrong.

We started Credit Repair Correctly to occupy the space in between: accurate, current, and willing to tell you when the best move costs nothing.

How we pick what to write

We do not brainstorm topics. We harvest the questions people are actually typing into Google (using the "People Also Ask" and related-search data Google itself publishes on results pages) and the questions people ask when they are stuck in credit help forums. Then we answer those questions specifically, including the awkward follow-ups.

How we handle the law

Credit reporting law moves. A federal rule that would have removed medical debt from consumer credit reports was finalized in January 2025 and vacated by a federal court in July 2025, and a great deal of published advice never caught up. Where an article depends on current law, we date-stamp it and say when we last verified it.

We are not attorneys and nothing here is legal advice. For anything with money or a lawsuit attached, talk to a licensed consumer law attorney or a nonprofit credit counselor.

How we make money

This site is supported by display advertising and, in future, may include affiliate links to financial products. Advertising never determines what we conclude. If a free do-it-yourself method beats a paid product, we say so. That is the entire premise of the site.

What we are not

We are not a credit repair organization as defined by the Credit Repair Organizations Act. We do not dispute items on your behalf, we do not charge fees for credit repair services, and we never promise that any specific item can be removed.
